The Foreign Service Institute welcomed the visiting delegation of the Short Regular Education Program (PPSA) XXIV of the National Resilience Institute of the Republic of Indonesia (LEMHANNAS) on 4 September 2023. Led by Air Vice Marshall Palito Sitorus, the delegation consisted of 20 participants and 7 officials from the Indonesian Embassy in the Philippines.
The visit aimed to generate a better understanding on the current developments in the region from the perspective of the Philippines. A briefing on The Philippine Government and its Foreign Policy Effort on Security Issues was held at the Carlos P. Romulo Library.
Mr. Arnel G. Talisayon, Acting Deputy Undersecretary for Civilian Security and Consular Affairs presented an overview of the Philippine-Indonesia diplomatic relations since its establishment in 1947, and discussed the DFA’s efforts of implementing the three pillars of foreign policy with particular focus on counter-terrorism effort and disaster management. A fruitful exchange of views ensued after Mr. Talisayon’s presentation.
