16 May 2022, Pasay City, Philippines – The FSI welcomed the students of the Lyceum of the Philippines University-Cavite conducted an educational tour for selected foreign service students where they visited various government institutions, including the Foreign Service Institute (FSI).

Acting Deputy Director-General Marichu C. Liwanag, PhD opened the program by briefly discussing the establishment of FSI through Presidential Decree 1060 and highlighted its important role of providing research and training support for the Department of Foreign Affairs. Officials from Carlos P. Romulo School of Diplomacy (CPRSD), the Center for International Relations and Strategic Studies (CIRSS), and the Carlos P. Romulo Library (CPR Library) shared the functions and activities of their respective divisions/section. Students were encouraged to: 1) follow FSIs Social Media pages to stay updated on educational infographics and invitations to join conferences such as the Mabini Dialogue and Mangrove Forum which discusses timely and relevant issues for free, and 2) use the CPR Library access for reference materials in aid of their researches. 

An open forum was held at the end of the briefing which discussed the importance of continuous training and upskilling for the foreign service personnel, the increasing role of social media and AI in diplomacy, and the need of the public to understand international issues that may affect them.
