The Foreign Service Institute (FSI), in partnership with the University of the Philippines National Engineering Center (UP NEC), conducted a special training on Business Analytics from 30 September to 02 October 2019.

Thirty (30) participants, comprising of the current batch of Foreign Service Officers undergoing the cadetship course and the Institute’s staff, including FSI’s Officer-in-Charge, Celeste Vinzon-Balatbat, attended the course.

Discussion on Regression and Model Building by Mr. Pierre Allen C. Villena.

The Course provided participants with discussions on introduction to business analytics, including topics on descriptive, predictive, and prescriptive analytics. In addition, the participants were able to apply these concepts using R Studio, a programming software used in data analysis during, the hands-on exercises.

Overall, the Course module provided better appreciation of the relevance of business analytics in enhancing the processes and services provided by the Department of Foreign Affairs and in responding to the challenges of contemporary public service.
