The Carlos P. Romulo Library of the Foreign Service Institute, in partnership with the Embassy of the Philippines in Wellington, New Zealand, organized the event “Filipinos as Tabletop Game Creators: Introduction and Demonstration” on 04 March 2018 at the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The event is part of the Library’s “Gamer’s Corner” project, which aims to provide employees other activities during lunch break and at the same time to enable them to experience first-hand the tradition and culture of the Philippines and other countries through board and tabletop games.

The activity is also co-sponsored by Wellington PE as one of its public, cultural, and economic diplomacy under its flagship projects #GamesDiplomacy and #DiwataDiplomacy.

Games presented include “Tadhana” by Mr. Nathan Briones, “Hugot” and “Combatron” by Mr. Thomas Eveery Regala, “Quotes & Verses” and “Travel Goals” by Mr. Ronald Villaver, “Bagani”, “Darna at ang Nawawalang Bato” and “Big Switch” by Balangay Entertainment, “Puti” by Mr. Nicanor Marco Valdez, “Pawikan Patrol” by Mr. Marc Reuben  Cuento, and “Rapids” by Mr. Cyrell Allen Aspiras. DFA employees had the chance to play each game and interact with their creators.

The games demonstrated in the event are available for use at the Carlos P. Romulo Library.
