
Ambassador José Abeto Zaide, a veteran diplomat with 40 years’ of service, shared some insights in the workings of the Philippine Foreign Service during FSI’s Mabini Dialogue “Diplomat’s Hour: Champagne on Beer Bottle Pocket”, held on 20 December 2016 at the Carlos P. Romulo Library.
DFA Secretary Perfecto R. Yasay graced the event and congratulated Ambassador Zaide for coming up with this book. He commented that the book “holds the key to finding out the secret world of diplomats.” Secretary Yasay recommends Ambassador Zaide’s book to “practitioners of the craft, or to those who just wish to take a peek into the exacting – yet exciting – world of diplomacy.”
Ambassador Zaide writes for the Manila Bulletin under the segment “Below the Line.” His first book, “Bababa ba? Anecdotes of a Foreign Service Officer”, is celebrated for its stylistic depiction of the life of a Foreign Service Officer.
