Dr. Raul V. Fabella, a National Scientist and Professor of Economics at the University of the Philippines Diliman, provided an in-depth discussion on Philippine Development and Economic Diplomacy at the Department of Foreign Affairs’ (DFA) Foreign Service Institute (FSI) for Batch XXIII of the Foreign Service Officers’ Cadetship Course (FSOCC) on January 18, 2017.

The lecture centered around the importance of reviewing and assessing historical data and evaluating the current status of the Philippine economy, including its bright spots and prospects to project a balanced trajectory of economic policies that will ultimately lead to sustainable and shared prosperity.

The Economic Diplomacy module aims to provide the DFA’s junior diplomats with a knowledge of the Philippine economic development, issues and challenges, and general concepts on economy, trade, and investments. The module prepares and equips them to pursue sound economic development policies and promote the Philippines’ global competitiveness.
