The twenty-two (22) new Foreign Service Officers (FSOs) currently undergoing the FSO Cadetship Course (FSOCC), and nine (9) taking their on-the-job training at the different Offices in the Department, paid a courtesy call on the Secretary of Foreign Affairs, Hon. Albert F. del Rosario on February 2, 2016 at the Carlos P. Garcia Conference Room.
The latest batch of FSOs introduced themselves and responded to the questions given by SFA del Rosario: “Why did you join the DFA?” and “What can you contribute to the Department?”
The call ended with a message from the Secretary, “In order to serve your people, be flexible, keep an open mind, don’t be satisfied with your degrees, keep pushing yourselves, get PhDs, reach beyond your grasp. And only then when you keep challenging yourselves, it will prepare you, you will feel better, and it will reward you.”
On January 26, 2016, Undersecretary for Administration, Hon. Linglingay F. Lacanlale welcomed the junior FSOs at the DFA during the Courtesy Call and shared her life and experiences in the foreign service. The thirty-one (31) young officers learned about family and work–life balance, mentoring and coaching.
