The Foreign Service Institute (FSI) participated in the Experts’ Group Meeting on the ASEAN Coast Guard Forum (ACGF) held on 19-20 August 2015 at New World Manila Bay Hotel, Manila. The meeting was hosted by the Philippine Coast Guard (PCG) under the auspices of the ASEAN Maritime Forum (AMF).

Deputy Director-General Julio S. Amador III presented the findings of a preliminary survey prepared by the Center for International Relations and Strategic Studies (CIRSS) on the nature, mandates, and functions of different maritime law enforcement and administration agencies in ASEAN. He identified some similarities and differences among these agencies and made some recommendations on what could be the focus of future experts’ group meetings of the ACGF.

In attendance during the meeting were representatives from the different coast guards and maritime law enforcement agencies and embassy representatives from the 10 ASEAN Member States.
