
Foreign Service Institute (FSI) Deputy Director-General (DDG) Julio S. Amador III was invited to speak at the First Cavite Local Legislator’s Summit at the Taal Vista Hotel, Tagaytay City, on 19 August 2015. The summit was convened by the Office of the Vice Governor of the Province of Cavite in cooperation with the Center for Local and Regional Governance at the National College of Public Administration and Governance of the University of the Philippines.
Deputy Director-General Amador spoke on the impact of ASEAN integration on governance in his speech “Understanding ASEAN Integration and the Role of LGUs.” He discussed the nature and objectives of ASEAN Integration and its prospects on both national and local levels. He illustrated ways by which LGUs can fully take advantage of ASEAN Integration such as through SME and labor force support.
The event attracted over 300 local government officials from across the country.
