Prof. Maria Anna Rowena Luz G. Layador, Head of the Foreign Service Institute’s Center for International Relations and Strategic Studies (CIRSS), and Ms. Joycee A. Teodoro, Foreign Affairs Research Specialist, participated in the 29th Asia-Pacific Roundtable (APR) held in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, on 1-3 June 2015.
The APR is an annual forum on regional political, security, and economic issues organized by the Institute of Strategic and International Studies (ISIS) Malaysia on behalf of the ASEAN-Institutes of Strategic and International Studies (ASEAN-ISIS). It is a security conference that provides a platform for policy-oriented deliberations on the region’s key strategic challenges. It is attended by policymakers, scholars, and opinion leaders. This year’s theme centered on the profound shifts in the region’s strategic landscape and other issues that represent elevated risks to regional security.
Prof. Layador and Ms. Teodoro also represented the Institute as part of Philippine membership committee delegation at the 43rd Council for Security Cooperation in the Asia Pacific (CSCAP) Steering Committee Meeting also held in Kuala Lumpur on 4 June 2015. CSCAP is a Track- 2 forum that discusses political and security issues facing the region.
