Ambassador Carlos D. Sorreta formally ends his term as Director-General of the Foreign Service Institute (FSI) and the Institute congratulates him on his appointment as Philippine Ambassador to Russia.

As part of the transition process, FSI Deputy Director-General Julio S. Amador III was designated as Acting Director-General of the Institute until the appointment of a replacement has been made.

Ambassador Sorreta has the rank of Chief of Mission I, the highest rank in the Philippine career foreign service, and is a member of the Philippine Bar. Prior to assuming the position of Director-General of the Institute, he was Assistant Secretary for American Affairs from 2012 to 2014. He was also Deputy Permanent Representative of the Philippines to the United Nations in New York from 2009 to 2012 and Deputy Chief of Mission of the Philippine Embassy in Washington from 2006 to 2009. For his work in foreign policy, he was bestowed the Presidential Order of Mabini, with the rank of Dakilang Kasugo.
