Deputy Director-General Julio S. Amador III of the Foreign Service Institute was a resource person at the Strategic Planning Course of the Philippine Air Force at Fernando Air Base, Lipa City, on 27 March 2015. He provided the historical overview of international relations and discussed the different strategic trends and challenges that impinge on both the national and regional security.
In his lecture, Mr. Amador also emphasized the role of the Philippine Air Force in the attainment of Philippine national security. He noted that the air force is the first line of defense and that maritime domain awareness has a significant aerial component. The air force is also crucial in non-traditional security concerns such as search and rescue and disaster relief.
