Director-General Carlos D. Sorreta received the University of the Philippines (UP) Law Alumni Award for “distinguished achievements that contribute to national development, for uncompromising dedication to the profession and public service, and for fearless advocacy of the Rule of Law” as head of the Foreign Service Institute.

In 2014, Director-General Sorreta spearheaded several initiatives in the Institute, including the renovation and upgrading of facilities, mainstreaming of gender and development, and embarking on e-learning programs for the officers and staff of the Department of Foreign Affairs.

The UP Law Alumni Award was presented by former Senator Edgardo J. Angara, Chairman of the UP Law Alumni Foundation and the UP Law Alumni Association, and UP Law Dean Danilo L. Concepcion at the Malcolm Theater, UP College of Law, on 7 November 2014.

Director-General Sorreta is a member of UP Law Class 1990.
