
Amb. Carlos D. Sorreta, Director of the Foreign Service Institute, opened the 2nd UP Model United Nations (UP MUN) Conference with the theme of “Diplomacy and Leadership: Withstanding Political Crises and Sustaining Global Economic Growth through Cooperative Interaction”, last 25 October 2014 at the Assembly Hall of NCPAG, UP Diliman.

UP MUN Conference is a student simulation of the United Nations which aims to provide an avenue for the youth to discuss, negotiate and create resolutions on the most pressing issues in the international community. Organized by UP Samahan sa Agham Pampulitika (UP SAPUL) an academic, non-partisan, and socio-political organization geared towards advancing political science as a field of study through various service-oriented and socially-relevant activities successfully launched their second conference.
FSI Director lauded their effort and used the opportunity to discuss with the highly motivated delegates from around the Philippines the importance of multilateral diplomacy. He further discussed the role of the Philippines in the United Nations.
