A course on Speechwriting and Delivery (CSWD), attended by staff from the Department of Foreign Affairs from 8 to 29 October 2014, was recently concluded at the Carlos P. Romulo School of Diplomacy (CPRSD) of the Foreign Service Institute (FSI).
The course aimed to refocus the participants’ concept of communication to its behavioral end and develop their skills in process writing. The skills were applied during a two-day scriptwriting and speech delivery simulation. Their outputs were recorded and used for group feedback.
Dr. Jonathan Malicsi, Professor of Linguistics and Coordinator of the UP English Language Project, served as resource person for the duration of the course.
The course is the last phase of the English Language Program. The ELP is a three-part course run exclusively for Department personnel to enhance their knowledge and skills in formal written and spoken English.
