The Foreign Service Officer (FSO) Cadets of Batch Salinlahi completed their module on National Security with a courtesy call on Brigadier General Jose T. Almonte on 07 November 2014.

A graduate of the Philippine Military Academy, BGEN Almonte served as National Security Adviser and Director-General of the National Security Council in the Cabinet of Philippine President Fidel V. Ramos from 1992 to 1998. He was conferred the Distinguished Conduct Star for gallantry while serving with the Philippine military contingent in Vietnam from 1966 to 1969, and the Ancient Oder of Sikatuna in 1998 for outstanding government service.

During the session, BGEN Almonte shared interesting stories and invaluable nuggets of wisdom. He emphasized that everyone has a sense of right and wrong, and that anything for the good of people is right. He encouraged the FSO Cadets to involve people in building a nation and a system that works for everybody, because if they have a stake in something, they will defend it.

The FSO Cadets benefited from hearing about the general’s valuable experiences.

FSI Assistant Director Julio S. Amador III and Core team members Amarie C.Zaldivar and Ken Edward H. Concepcion accompanied the batch.
