The Foreign Service Institutes continued its campaign on raising ASEAN awareness, this time on the impact of ASEAN Community 2015 on the higher education sector, at the University of the Philippines-Baguio and De La Salle-College of St. Benilde last 20 and 24 October 2014, respectively.  FSI Assistant Director Julio Amador III talked about the upcoming ASEAN integration and how this relates to the country’s education sector. Mr. Amador was joined in both forums by Prof. Prospero de Vera, PhD., University of the Philippines Vice President for Public Affairs.

Mr. Amador informed the audience that there is a mandate from the ASEAN Socio-Cultural Community (ASCC) pillar to develop and offer courses on ASEAN studies from primary to higher education level. He also emphasized the need for educational institutions to be competitive as regional integration deepens.

The events were attended by the members of the faculty and students from different schools in Luzon including University of the Philippines – Baguio, De La Salle – College of St. Benilde, Mariano Marcos Sr. University, University of Baguio, Adamson University, and St. Louis University.
